Feng What???

The first question I get from people when they learn what I do is …

“What exactly is Feng Shui? I have heard of it but what exactly is it?”

Unfortunately there is no one exact definition but I will do my best to describe it here:

Feng Shui is a system that helps us understand that everything around us affects us either positively or negatively and that we can alter our surroundings so that we live the best-balanced life possible. Intuitive Living includes Feng Shui but also adopts other cultural, scientific and modern concepts so that Feng Shui can be applied to our contemporary culture.

A simpler definition is: the understanding of your environment and adjustment to your surroundings to benefit you the most.

The Chinese term Feng Shui translates as “Wind” and “Water”, two natural forces that shape our environment and has been used in China and throughout Asia for centuries. It is not unique to Asia. If you think about it, prior to technology taking over our lives, all ancient civilizations implemented some form of Feng Shui. Locations of villages, houses, and crops were based on the environment that people lived in. Our ancestors were in tune with nature and created the best living environment they could based on their surroundings at that time.

Today, with modern technology to ‘protect’ us from nature, we no longer consider our surroundings. Our homes have become our habitat. There is a reason why people did not live in Death Valley hundreds of years ago; it was uninhabitable! Yet today, there are homes there because technology has allowed it. This is neither good nor bad, it is just something that must be recognized when implementing Feng Shui in a contemporary environment.

To truly understand Feng Shui you need to accept three basic concepts:

1. All things have an energy that affects us,

2. All things are connected,

3. All things are in a constant state of change.

With Intuitive Living I strive to connect my clients with what they know intuitively in their minds and hearts but which they cannot recognize without some assistance. Implementing Intuitive Living will balance and harmonize your inner and outer environment. It helps you harmonize your thoughts, actions and needs with your surroundings.

Once you become aware of your surroundings you start to understand how they affect you emotionally and often physically every day!
