Is your damn stuff becoming a dam?

Humans collect stuff; big stuff, little stuff, lots and lots of stuff. We like our stuff! Items we feel just can’t be thrown away for whatever reason. Sometimes it harbors a memory, it might be a reflection of your status in the community (after all, “whoever has the most stuff wins”), or we feel more comfortable surrounded by our stuff.  The time of greatest stuff collection is when two people move in together.  Suddenly “stuff” is doubled.  When you feel overwhelmed and suffocated in your own home, then it is time to deal with items no longer necessary to you.   Often these items create negative feelings in the house and may even begin to harbor resentment.  Look around the room you are sitting in right now.  Look at each item carefully.  Does your mood change as you look at each item?  Do you feel tense when you see the pile of papers you haven’t read yet, sad when you see a gift from a friend you no longer see, or happy when you see your child’s drawing?   Every item in your home should invoke ONLY good memories and positive thoughts.
